I am safe.
Here
In the kitchen
Or is it paradise?

Nothing
Can harm me
In here
(Except for rotten veggies
Or spoiled meats)

I am queen.
Here
In the corner of my world
Or is it the center?

Does it even matter really?

Nothing
Dares to enter
In here
(Except for the dogs)

He’d never step foot in such a
Woman’s place
(It’s beneath him, you see)

I am happy
Here
For once
Unmolested and free
No threats, promises, or shouts
Would dare reach me

No
Not in here.
And even if…

Well…
For once…
I could…

Maybe…

Fight back
Stand ground
Break out

Back off!
The dripping whisk would say
Whipping through the air
Dirty with the drippings
Of batter freshly mixed

Leave her alone!
The flailing spatula would cry
Spattering dough every where
Launching its coating
On his perfectly primped hair

Who am I kidding?
Metal and rubber
Stand no chance
Against his weapons
(Words, fists, blades)

No
Not a thing
In this damn corner
(World, fantasy, kitchen)
Can ever deliver me.

I am prisoner
Here
Just here?
Or is it everywhere?

Does it even matter really?

Nothing
Can save me
In here
From him
(Except for a girl
Holding a whisk)

Maybe…
This is a poem about a period in my life a long time ago so please don't write me concerned notes! Although, you'd be very sweet and kind if you did think of it.

I wrote this because I know that what I went through happened and still happens to other women.

Anyhow, I was inspired by a photo of a whisk. Random, much?

My wish is that every girl, who ever went through something like this girl in the kitchen, finds a man like my husband =D

And I'm still learning poetry so... yea...

I've yet to have a girlfriend who could cook! The kitchen has always been my domain, glad you got out. Shame 7 out of 10 guys are bullies and fools who think physical strength = better. Eve was framed! Women have no more or less of a soul then men.
